Megan began dancing at the age of 4 and has loved it ever since. She started taking ballet classes and added jazz, lyrical, contemporary, and other styles as the years continued. Megan trained in the Royal Academy of Dance to complete all of her Graded and Vocational exams including her Advanced 1 exam and has trained at the Advanced 2 level.
As a member of the Panorama Youth Company, Megan has had the chance to perform in Disneyland (three times), Disneyworld, and on multiple cruise ships. She has also performed in parades, at Vancouver’s PNE, and at the 2010 Paralympic Opening Ceremony. Megan started student teaching from a young age which has helped her to gain confidence in teaching and is glad to be able to pursue and share her passion for dance with her students.
Megan was part of the Royal City Youth Ballet’s The Nutcracker, this gave her experience under pressure and gave her a chance to perform with and meet many new people. This past winter Megan had the amazing opportunity to travel and compete in Poland as part of Team Canada. This was an experience of a lifetime which gave her a look at dancers from around the world.
In August, Megan attended the Dance Life Teachers Conference in Arizona. Here, among over 800 other teachers, she learned and took classes from some of the most successful teachers in the dance world. Megan will be attending Kwantlen Polytechnic University to study in the field of Business. She cannot wait to share her love for dance with her students and to be a positive and hardworking role model for the dancers. “I want to inspire people, I want someone to say because of you I didn’t give up.”
