Mikaela is a dedicated and versatile dance teacher with a lifelong passion for movement and performance. Originally from Coquitlam, BC, Mikaela began dancing at the age of four and has since trained in ballet, tap, jazz, lyrical, contemporary, hip-hop, acro, and stage at her hometown studio. Her performance background spans from stage shows to video projects and competitions, to collaborative choreography programs, giving her a deep understanding of both technical and performance artistry.

Deciding to continue her training after high school graduation she trained in street styles such as heels, hip-hop, street jazz, jazz funk, waacking, grooving, and house. She has taken part in training groups within Vancouver such as Army of Sass, Honey Harbour Dance Company, Illustrative Society and Culturally Defined. Mikaela has recently moved back to Vancouver after studying in Toronto for 3 years at Toronto Metropolitan University and graduated with a Bachelor of fine arts in photography. She has also finished a 200 hour yoga program, certifying her to teach yoga.

Over the past seven years, Mikaela has taught dancers of all ages and abilities; from toddlers taking their first steps in creative movement classes to advanced teens preparing for competitions, and adults looking to challenge themselves or rediscover the joy of dance. She has instructed in diverse settings, including studios across BC and Ontario, city recreation programs, and specialized performance training programs. Mikaela’s teaching experience covers a wide range of styles, with classes in ballet, jazz, lyrical, contemporary, acro, hip-hop, tap, heels, jazz funk and conditioning classes. Alongside teaching dance, Mikaela also teaches yoga and piano and works as a photographer.

Whether in a tiny-tot ballet class, an advanced lyrical rehearsal, or a high-energy hip-hop session, Mikaela’s goal remains the same: to inspire a lifelong love of dance and help every student leave class feeling more confident, capable, and connected to dance.
